ABOUT

JACKSON DOC FEST

JACKSON DOC FEST (formerly LANE DOC FEST) has rapidly emerged as one of the top documentary film festivals in the world, with a strong mission to become the premier global destination for documentary cinema. Since its inception, the festival has experienced a remarkable 30% annual increase in submissions, beginning with over 1,200 films representing 92 countries in its early years. This impressive trajectory reflects the festival’s growing international influence and its unwavering dedication to powerful, thought-provoking storytelling.

JACKSON DOC FEST is an annual awards and screening event that celebrates international documentary films exploring social issues, cultural awareness, democracy, peace, and freedom. Many of the films we showcase have also won awards or been featured at world‑renowned festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, the Oscars, IDFA, and more.

More than just a film festival, Jackson Doc Fest is a thriving and eclectic forum that brings filmmakers, students, industry leaders, and local communities together. It offers high-spirited networking opportunities, particularly for students and emerging creatives eager to connect with professionals in the field. Each year, we spotlight diverse international voices, while proudly showcasing the best of both regional and global filmmaking in a dynamic celebration of cinematic and visual storytelling.

Our volunteer jury panels are comprised of internationally acclaimed, award-winning filmmakers and respected industry professionals from around the world. Their collective expertise ensures that the festival maintains a high standard of excellence while amplifying underrepresented voices and impactful stories.

As we continue to grow, Jackson Doc Fest remains committed to cultivating meaningful conversations, encouraging creative exchange, and building bridges between cultures through the power of documentary film. Join us in Jackson, Tennessee, as we honor the art of non-fiction cinema and create a vibrant space where film, education, and social change come together.
